Current mood: hopeful

And today, I get two festivals for the price of one.
Happy Hallowe'en, to those of you who celebrate it; Samhain blessings, to those of you celebrating that instead. To those of you who, like me, see no harm in doing both, best wishes twice over and I hope you're all having a lovely time. ♥♥♥

Right, now to go and watch classic cars, play with bats and eat candy, I think...

Love,
The Navigator

PS Justin's chocolatiers are doing GREEN TOFFEE APPLES. O_O I thought you should all know that.

It was better than last year. People complimented my coat and I didn't have drunk pumpkins nearly spilling beer on it.

(And apparently I need to compliment the Goodness Gracious on positive activities, according to Koi)

*emails you one* I'd attempt to post you an actual one but they'd sold out when I went back this afternoon. :(

*noms on candy and cuddles back happily* Thankee, love...

WOOHOO! Happy Halloween! :D

Samhain needs a snappy something. "Salacious Samhain!" or "Slytherin Samhain!" or something. Yeah, I got nothin'.

The local New Age store, which usually has a festival for any reason ("It is Tibetan Birth Rights Day*! Let us celebrate with cookies!") TOTALLY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING COOL. I was so disappointed. Boo on them!

*not a real holiday

Wow, they SERIOUSLY fail at New Age. Maybe they're one of those one that are scared to acknowledge anything from the dark half of things even if it's positive and beneficial, just because it might be difficult or intimidating or dangerous as well? We have a few of those over here. (No, the MorrĂgan is not your divine guardian granny and the Ten of Swords does generally mean you're fucked, dammit! Stop defanging my spirituality already *headwall*)

I think MAYBE they were running late (he said their fortune teller was supposed to be there already). Usually they have something going on for it. I wanted cookies, dammit! PUMPKIN-SHAPED COOKIES (hee hee)

But I did learn how to juggle from an unusual old woman there dressed as a clown*. So not a total failure!

I have never quite gotten wispy, feel-good versions of paganism. Granted, I'm not a pagan, so there must be some benefit I'm missing, but wouldn't it seem like it would ANGER the more...ah...destructive aspects to be reduced to such a diminutive, "mischievous" status?

*I once met a trickster fellow there and his odd female companion. He asked me about a crows feather he found - what symbolism was behind black feathers. I said "Sorry, it's not my realm of expertise." Him: "What is your realm of expertise?" Me: "Haven't got one." This pleased him immensely. Of course, then I answered his question. ;)
